Calling all writers! The library is participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel. Visit for more information.

MeLCat Requests Temporarily Suspended The MeLCat servers are being moved to a new host site and upgraded. MeLCat requesting will be turned off at 12:01 am on Wednesday, November 18. You will still be able to search MeLCat after that date, but the request button will be gone. MeLCat requesting will be off from November 18 until early December. For more information, visit

National Novel Writing Month Kick-off
Thursday, October 22nd at 7 p.m.

Local author Sean McKenzie will talk about the creative process and fitting writing into a busy life. This event is a kick-off for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Visit for more information.

After School Programming
Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Activities, programs, homework help and more. Designed for grades 5 through 12.

Circle Time
Mondays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Infants and toddlers and their parents/caregivers will have fun rhyming and moving with Miss Char. With a focus on repetition, children build their repertoire each week of rhymes, both old and new.

Tech Tuesdays
Tuesdays from 10:00 to 12:00

A library staff member will be available to help you with your library related technology issues. Learn how to download ebooks, and audiobooks to your personal device. Learn how to search the library's digitzed newspaper collection. Non-library related tech issues will be addressed as time allows.

Fun Fridays
Fridays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Beginning October 2nd
The library will be a little more lively on Friday mornings as we begin "Fun Fridays." Our first Fun Friday will be hosted by Mary Ann from M.O.B.B.I (Movement Oriented Brain Body Integration). This program is designed for ages 2 to 5; however, all are welcome.

Coloring for Grown-ups
Fridays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Fun Fridays aren't just for kids. Join us for a stress-free hour of coloring. All materials will be supplied by the library. Everyone welcome.

Breakfast Book Share
Wednesday, October 21st from 9 am to 10 am

Bring your own coffee or tea and talk about books. Share what you have read recently and find out what fellow community members have been reading. This is a great way to discover new books!

Great Benzie Read
Wednesday, October 28th at 5 p.m.

This program will meet at Bayview Grille, 727 Main St. Frankfort

The libraries of Benzie County invite you to a countywide discussion of STATION ELEVEN by Emily St. John Mandel. Everyone is welcome. Multiple copies of STATION ELEVEN are available at your local library or ask for an eBook, audio download, or book on CD!

Spanish Conversation Group
October 27th at 7 p.m.
Last Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Join us for an evening of conversation in Spanish. Practice your language skills and meet other Spanish speakers.
